HOPE Message Board and Photo Gallery

There are a couple of resources on the church web page at www.abbeyvilleroad.com for you to keep in touch with the HOPE team while they’re away:

• The Message Board – allows you to send messages of encouragement to the team, and to stay up to date on what they’re doing,
• The Photo Gallery – lets you see pictures of the team in action.

Here’s what you need to know to use the message board and photo gallery.  You get to both of them from the home page at www.abbeyvilleroad.com.  Before you can access the message board, you will need to create a user login. If you created one last year, you can just continue using that. 

Creating a User Login

This is a one time only operation.

1. On the right hand side of the home page, in the “User login” section, is a “Create new account” link.  Click on this link to start the process.
2. This will bring you to a registration screen, where you will enter a user name (choose one you can remember easily), and your email address.  The email address will be used to send you your initial password (you can change the password later if you wish).
3. Once you have entered your new user name and email address click on the “Create new account” button.
4. You should now go to your email account to finish the registration process.  You will have an email from webservant@abbeyvilleroad.com.  When you open that email, you will see your user name and initial password, make a note of them, and then click on the link just above them.  It will take you to the login page. 
5. Enter your user name and password to login.  At this point you might want to change your password.  You do this by clicking on the “edit” tab.  Under the “Password:” heading enter your new password twice, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “Submit” button.  The next time you log in you will use the new password.

Note – Only one user name can be created per email address.  So if your family shares an email address, you will share your log in to the message board

Accessing the Message Board

1. First enter your user name and password, on the right hand side of the home page, in the “User login” section.  Click on the “Log in” button to complete the log in.
2. Click on the “Message Board” link on the left hand side of the home page, in a section titled “HOPE 2006”.
3. From here you can view messages already posted, and you can create new messages (either in response to ones already posted, or in completely new message threads).
4. To reply to a message, click on the “reply” link in that message.
5. To start a new message thread, click on the “add new comment” link at the top of the page.
6. In both cases the process from here is the same:
1. Give your message a title in the “Subject:” box, then type your message into the “Comment:” box.
2. Once you’re done typing your message, click on the “Preview comment” button, this will take you to a page where you can see what your message will look like.
3. If you need to edit the message, go ahead.  When you’re done click the “Preview comment” button again.
4. Once you’re happy with the message, click on the “Post comment” button.
5. That’s it.  Your message will now be posted.

Note – Please remember that messages are viewable by all registered users once they’re posted.

Accessing the Photo Gallery

1. Click on the “Photo Gallery” link on the left hand side of the home page, in a section titled “HOPE 2006”.
2. From here you can view photos posted by the team showing what they’re up to as the week progresses.
